To really identify this I tried running Crystal Disk Mark to obtain a constant load on the SSD and sure enough the higher-pitched sound was then constant.Īs you can imagine it’s quite an annoying sound, so I would be really pleased if there is something I can do about it? I tried googling “SSD squeaking” and such and did find some threads, but not really a solution. Now, the squeaking sound is constant and the LED light is mostly off, but whenever the LED flashes (to indicate some SSD activity, I guess) the squeaking sound becomes even more high-pitched, but only as long as the LED is on (higher activity). On the laptop there is a little indicator light that shows the SSD activity. This might sound odd and you probably think that it’s just normal coil whine, but I hope you can help me troubleshoot this. You see, my laptop makes this very high-pitched squeaking sound and I think I have narrowed it down to the SSD. It’s the latter that is giving me problems, I think.

It is an Asus ZenBook UX32LN (R4077H) with i7-4710u, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GT 840 and an 128 GB SSD. So I just recently purchased a new laptop and everything is good - mostly.
